The show Feb. 13 allowed students to practice their showmanship ahead of the Georgia Junior National Livestock Show that starts today in Perry. It also gave family and friends, who may not be able to travel to shows, the chance to see Gilmer students’ hard work and dedication in action.

Cows, goats and pigs were showcased by students at the annual Gilmer County Farm Bureau Livestock Show. Senior Jack Keener showed his cow, Alice. Alyssa Ashurst, a graduate from the Gilmer FFA program, judged the dairy categories.

Judges named grand and reserve champions for various categories including dairy, breeding doe, breeding ewe and market hog showmanship.
FFA program leader Mike Bushey thanked all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, guardians, friends and FFA advisors in the crowd for their support toward the students and program.
