Gary Engel announced his candidacy for Gilmer County Commissioner, Post 2. He has spent his life serving — first in uniform as a U.S. Army officer and later as a business executive, local business owner and community leader. Now, he is ready to continue that service by providing leadership for Gilmer County.
As a retired U.S. Army Colonel and combat veteran, he understands accountability, responsible budgeting and mission-focused leadership. He has managed extremely large budgets and complex organizations where efficiency, planning and measurable results were essential. County government should operate with that same level of discipline and stewardship.
Gilmer County is growing, and that growth must be managed wisely. He supports detailed, thoughtful planning that protects our rural character while preparing responsibly for the future.
