The winner of a new social media contest from the Gilmer Chamber will take home a uniquely decorated tree with all the trimmings to put up next Christmas.
The chamber will be giving away its fully decorated entry in the Gilmer County Library’s Festival of Trees to one drawing winner, said Jennifer Grimmer, chamber president and CEO.
The finished tree, valued at approximately $500, is outfitted with handmade ornaments fashioned by local decorator The Trendy Leaf. Its theme is “A Weekend in Ellijay.”
To enter the giveaway, the chamber asks entrants to take a photo showing something they love to do in Ellijay. To officially enter the contest, those photos should be posted on Facebook or Instagram and tagged using #pickellijay.
“We will gather those names and pull one of (them). That person will win the entire tree and everything on it,” Grimmer said.
The drawing will be done after the Festival of Trees has concluded at the end of December. It will take place live on the Gilmer Chamber Facebook page, Grimmer noted.
“This is a new tradition. We’re going to do this every year,” she added.
