A man Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office asked county residents to be on the lookout for who was wanted in North Dakota has been found dead.
Willimas County, N.D., deputies responded to a call about an unattended body on Oct. 28, according to a Facebook post from the department.
“Williams County detectives responded to the scene and conducted a follow-up investigation. During this investigation, detectives determined that the clothing and body markings of the individual found in the area potentially matched that of Leonard Higdon, who had previously been a suspect in an attempted murder investigation in the city of Williston,” the post said.
The body has been sent to the North Dakota Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
Higdon was being sought by law enforcement for an attack which took place in Williston, N.D., Sept. 29, according to the original post seeking the man. Higdon had ties to Gilmer and Fannin counties and was considered to be armed and very dangerous. Residents were asked to contact 911 if they saw him.
Higdon was being sought on warrants for attempted murder, aggravated assault, criminal trespass, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
