Unofficial results for the two city elections decided Tuesday, Nov. 7, are as follows:
In Ellijay, incumbent Mayor Al Hoyle (174 votes) won by a narrow margin over challenger Sandy Ott (171 votes).
There may be a recount in this race depending on if the candidates request it. They have until the end of business day Thursday to request a recount, according to Ellijay elections manger Sandra Sales.
Top vote-getters in the Ellijay City Council race are: Claudia Penland, Kevin Pritchett (I), Al Fuller (I), Tom Crawford (I) and Thomas Griffith. They will comprise the council as of Jan. 1.
In East Ellijay, all incumbents running in the election retained their seats.
Mayor Don Callihan (101 votes) won by a wide margin over challenger Tom Ocobock (12 votes).
For East Ellijay City Council, the top vote-getters are: Chris Callihan, Ed Forrester, James Waters and Linda Smith.
