Voters in Ellijay and East Ellijay will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Candidates for mayor and city council will be on the ballots for both cities.
In Ellijay, Election Day voting will be done at the Gilmer County Civic Center, 1561 South Main Street.
East Ellijay voters will head to East Ellijay City Hall, 107 Oak Street, to do their Election Day voting.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Election Day.
As of Monday, 114 had voted early in the Ellijay election, and five absentee ballots had been mailed. As of Monday, 40 had voted early in the East Ellijay election, and eight absentee ballots had been mailed. There are currently 1,216 registered voters in Ellijay, while East Ellijay has just shy of 400 registered voters, according to the two cities’ election managers.
The Ellijay and East Ellijay City Halls are being used for early voting. The last day to vote early at either location is Friday, Nov. 3. Early voting hours are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in both cities.
“It’s going good. We’ve not had any problems or hiccups, but (early voting) has been a little slow,” said Gary Watkins, East Ellijay’s election manager, about the early voting period for the election, which included two Saturdays.
There are two mayoral candidates in each city, while Ellijay has six running to fill its five council seats, and East Ellijay has six running to fill four council seats.

Ellijay - Mayor: Al Hoyle (I), Sandy Ott. City Council: Tom Crawford (I), Jeff Dill, Al Fuller (I), Thomas Griffith, Claudia Penland, Kevin Pritchett (I).
East Ellijay - Mayor: Don Callihan (I), Tom Ocobock. City Council: Chris Callihan (I), Ed Forrester (I), Veronica Kincaid, Cindy Hoyle Musselwhite, Linda Smith (I), James Waters (I).
