New ordinance will make adjusting speed limits easier
The East Ellijay City Council lowered the speed limit on Highland Crossing to 25 miles per hour as of Wednesday, Aug. 20.
This city ordinance also made it possible for the council to change speed limits with just a resolution rather than another ordinance.
Director of Public Safety Larry Callahan asked the council to agree to put up stop signs for a four-way stop at the Mulberry Street intersection.
“We’re getting a tremendous amount of traffic that comes off the hill and comes through that intersection, really, too fast,” he said.
