Quick repair had drivers navigating the intersection by noon
‘Twas one night after Christmas in Ellijay town, and the Dairy Queen traffic light somehow went down.
On Dec. 27, about 2 a.m., the Dairy Queen traffic light broke once again.
In typical spirit of full insurrection, it flashed a red signal in every direction.
Hwy. 282 and the South Main St. corner has traffic lights that aren’t the best of performers.
It’s a common affair for these lights to malfunction and inconvenience all who hope to cross the junction.
But even that early, there’s someone to help us — the trusty old Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).
They found out the problem without hesitation and called up the Department of Transportation.
While they fixed the problem, aided by the cops, all drivers used it like a four-way stop.
Though the problem had started ‘neath a quarter moon, the light was all fixed by the first stroke of noon.
When lights break GCSO advises caution to keep accidents from occurring too often.
“As always … slow it down, look twice, and don’t assume,” said GCSO personnel from their room, “The other driver knows what they’re doing.” They could have a signal that they’re misconstruing.
No matter the time or place when breaks the light, GCSO will make sure all have a good night.
