Gilmer County deputies and the family of Christopher Mays are asking for help in locating the missing man.
“We’re trying to get his picture out there as much as possible,” said Betty McArthur, his aunt. “His wife and daughter really need to find him.”
Mays, 38, has brown-red hair with a red beard and was last seen the afternoon of Sept. 3 in the 700 block of Ridgeway Church Road, according to a Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office post on Facebook. He was wearing red and black gym shorts, a brown shirt and white shoes.
“He was very upset when he left,” said Captain Frank Copeland of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, search and rescue and family members have been searching the area.
Copeland said they pinged Mays’ phone and searched the area where it was located to no avail. A search using tracking dogs was also unsuccessful.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist.
Anyone with information about Mays is asked to contact the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office at 706-635-8911.
