Christmas in Ellijay begins Friday, Nov. 29, with a fun afternoon of activities sponsored by FOGAS. This event will be centered on Broad St. in front of the courthouse downtown.

Light Up Ellijay starts in the afternoon with a visit with Santa offered by FOGAS. Santa will be there from 2-7:30 p.m.
Pets are welcome to have their photos taken with Santa. Santa wants us to let you know that he has a gift for both pets and children. The line to see Santa will be directed toward the sidewalks on Dalton St., and visitors to Santa’s house are asked to stay safe and out of the roadway.
At 6 p.m. Santa will magically light the Christmas tree in the center of the roundabout from the courthouse steps.
The second weekend of Light Up Ellijay will be facilitated by Engage in Gilmer and will begin at noon Dec. 7, with vendors on Broad St. and Sand St. around the welcome center.
Seasonal music will be played in the afternoon, and at p.m. the choruses of all the Gilmer County Schools have been invited to sing Christmas songs on the welcome center steps.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. with an after party behind the Gilmer Chamber Welcome Center following. This is an opportunity for a closeup look at some of the floats, the participants and gives the participants a chance to hand out candy and info.
