A California man died in a vehicle crash on Hwy. 515 which resulted in a woman being taken to the hospital.
The crash took place at the intersection of 515 and Searcy Road Nov. 23 at 2:50 p.m., according to a Georgia State Patrol report.
George Bland, 43, of Garberville, Calif., was traveling northbound on Hwy. 515 when his vehicle crossed into the turn lane for Searcy Road. The 2021 Chevrolet Spark went into the median where it hit a drain cover which damaged the driver’s side front tire.
Bland continued into the southbound lanes and struck a 2018 Toyota Camry driven by Teresa Rose, 62, of Talking Rock.
The vehicle driven by Bland came to a stop in the left southbound lane while Rose’s vehicle slid sideways, hit the guardrail and flipped onto the roof, according to the report.
Bland was killed in the accident, and Rose was taken to Erlanger Hospital for treatment.
Speed is listed as a factor in the accident. A witness told the state trooper when Bland “passed him, it was moving so fast it was like he was sitting still,” according to the report.
