In 1976, the Ellijay Lions Clubhouse is moved across the lot in front of the Gilmer County Civic Center to its present day home on South Main Street.
In 1986, Lions Club members James Pack, Bill Middleton, Michael Bramlett and Tracy Newton prepare barbecue plates for hungry attendees at that year’s 15th annual Georgia Apple Festival. The festival has since grown to become the club’s biggest annual fundraiser.
On the eve of the Ellijay Lions Club’s 85th birthday, members observed that only two other Lions Clubs in the state of Georgia have been around longer.
