Mrs. Vally Kelsey, 72, of Ellijay, peacefully entered the presence of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022.

She was born Aug. 16, 1950, in Esslingen, Germany, to the late Gottlieb Elischer and Julia Turzer.

She is preceded in death by brother, Helmut Elischer.

She moved from Germany to New York Aug. 17, 1971, and married Russell Kelsey. Together they were the parents of two daughters. 

She worked in banking, sales and marketing management. They later lived in St. Petersburg, Fla., for 12 years.

In 2004, they moved to Ellijay and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

During her life, she enjoyed playing and watching football (soccer), gardening, spending time outdoors, volunteering, crocheting scarves as gifts and spreading joy in her community. Her passion was her love for Christ, and she sought to serve and honor him in many ways. She volunteered at Sunday school and shared his word and praise through nursing home and music ministry.

She is survived by husband of 51 years, Russell James Kelsey; daughters, Julie Kelsey Marcus, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jamie Christine Lyons, of Glendale, Ariz,; and grandchildren, Keanon Lyons and Kelsey Lyons; and brother Otto Elischer, of Deizisau, Germany.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Rosser officiating.
