Mrs. Dorothy Jane Brothers

Mrs. Dorothy Jane Brothers, 85, of Ellijay, died Friday, March 25, 2022, at Parkside Nursing Home.

She was born July 25, 1936, in Gadsden, Ala., to the late Melvin Tolbert and Alene Sprayberry Tolbert.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a server for Habitat for Humanity and Larry Burkett Ministries.

She is preceded in death by loving husband of 66 years, the Rev. Clayton Brothers; children, Kathi Floyd and Steve Brothers; sister, Betty Jean Ramsey; and brother, Buddy Tolbert.

She is survived by son, Tim Brothers, of Ellijay; daughters, Becky Taylor (Paul), of Wasta, S.D. and Rachael Pittman (Tony), of Piedmont, Ala.; brother, Jerry (Frankie) Tolbert, of Alabama; sisters, Linda (Toney) Weathington, Jenny (Charlie) Morgan, and Donna (Ricky) Duke, all of Alabama; special niece, Jennifer Fancher; six grandchildren, Michelle Waldrop, Dawn Whaley, Angela Bray, Danielle Pittman, Brandon Cohen, and Michael Lawrence; seven great-grandchildren, Lauran, Lendy, Skye, Lane, Katie, Elsa and Nillo; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Rosser and the Rev. Reuben Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the funeral home.
