Spring has tentatively arrived in Gilmer County. Trees and bushes are beginning to bud, and pollen is starting to cover our windshields.

The renewal of the season means our new edition of Mountain Home is ready to help you dig into the new year with projects for your home inside and out.

We begin with a story to help you save money with making the most of every cent by Whitney Sherrill. She moves from this subject to navigating the current home market with some advice from experts.

We provide you with some local expertise from the Master Gardeners, the Garden Club and the local UGA Extension office. All of these are resources available to you year-round in Gilmer County.

For fun, we throw in some chalk art ideas and tips on making an Easter egg wreath. These include some beautiful art to give you a visual to start your own works of art.

We have some information for dealing with wildlife — specifically carpenter bees and how disease is affecting wildlife.

Mark Millican weighs in with a story about homemade furniture you won’t want to miss.

Finally, we throw in some recipe ideas to give you a taste of spring.

And, there is so much more.

We could not produce this magazine alone. Please see the list of our sponsors and their ads. We would encourage you to join us in thanking them for their support and help in providing these ideas to you.

As always, putting together this magazine is a labor of love. We hope this comes through in our stories. It is also nice when we hear from you about the ideas you used and how they worked out.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for being part of the Times-Courier and Gilmer County family.

Welcome to spring. We hope the season is enjoyable for you.
