Resurfacing of Highway 515 that recently started near the highway’s intersection with Old Northcutt Road will extend past where the highway intersects Maddox Drive/Yukon Road in East Ellijay.
A total of 4.55 miles of the northbound and southbound lanes of 515 will be paved, from just south of Maddox to just north of Old Northcutt, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) District 6 office.
Physical work began earlier this month, and the parts of the paving job that will most impact drivers are expected to be finished within the next three to four weeks, but that’s if weather allows, noted Joe Schulman, District 6 communications officer.
Orange traffic cones have cut the four-lane highway down to two lanes (one in each direction) in some areas. Last week, on days when rain wasn’t a factor, the paving work was centered around the Greenfield Road area.
Colditz Paving, of Blairsville, is the contractor for the project. The tentative completion date is April 20, noted Schulman.
