Gilmer High sophomore Payton Woodring attended the GHSA Swimming and Diving State Championship last Friday and Saturday at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center. She swam the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and advanced to the finals in both. At state, Class 4A and 5A swimmers compete against each other, and Woodring placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (51.97) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.27).
