Gilmer High School swimmers crashed the all Paulding swimming party Dec. 20.
North Paulding played host to East Paulding, South Paulding, Paulding County and Gilmer. The GHS Lady Cats finished third in the girls standings with 269 points while the Bobcats landed in fourth place with 138.
As Payton Woodring has done all season, she once again proved to be the top 100-yard freestyle swimmer at the meet. She won by nearly 14 seconds with a time of 56.33. In second place was Woodring’s Lady Cat teammate Aniston Fowler at 1:10.01.
Woodring also went on to nab a runner-up placement in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.11. Sadie Bryan secured Gilmer’s remaining second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (8.29.59).
Lady Cat Angel Guidry took third place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:26.28), and Bobcat Connor Mohon secured the same position in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.92).
Gilmer also landed in the top three in a pair of relay events. Woodring, Guidry and Fowler were joined by Cadence Mohon for a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley in 2:21.24.
Woodring and Fowler teamed up with Bryan and Kaitlyn Grice in the 400-yard freestyle relay and they turned in a runner-up time of 4:55.29.
Remaining top-10 Gilmer finishes included: fourth place Emma Schramm, 200 individual medley (3:07.19); Aniston Fowler, 100 fly (1:25.60); Cole Ellis, 100 free (1:03.36) and Larz Fowler, 100 breaststroke (1:24.25).
Cadence Mohon took fifth in the 100 breast (1:38.01) and Ellis was sixth in the 50 free (28.05). Grice placed seventh in the 50 free (31.91), as did Larz Fowler in the 100 free (1:06.35).
The relay team of Ty Cox, Larz Fowler, Connor Mohon and Ellis were fifth in the 200 medley (2:25.56) and 200 free (2:05.27).
Lady Cats Shyanne Little, Amber Collins, Mary Parks and Schramm placed seventh in the 200 free relay at 2:23.13.
Ahead of the Lady Cats in the standings were North Paulding (707 points) and East Paulding (454). North and East finished atop the boys standings as well with 562 and 289 points, respectively. South Paulding was the third-place boys team.
