Gilmer golfers were in Chatsworth last Monday to face a pair of local foes.
Murray County and North Murray high schools squared off against Gilmer Monday at Spring Lakes Golf Course before the week’s rain showers arrived.
The GHS Lady Cats were the top girls team with a three-person score of 154. That was good enough to defeat North Murray by 34 strokes, and Murray County did not have a team.
Gilmer was led by low medalist Clara Smith’s nine-hole score of 47. Teammates Maddie Wright finished with a 53, Alexis Sirmans shot a 54 and Jasmine Wright posted a 60.
The Bobcats (228 strokes) landed in third place behind North Murray (180) and Murray County (203).
The top-four scores were used to tally the boys team totals, and Bobcat Jeremy Bertolini’s 56 was Gilmer’s best. Carson Bentley and Gabe Lifsey both shot a 57, and Matthew Chastain finished with a 58.
Bobcats Landon Burton and Hershel Defoor posted scores of 59 and 62, respectively.
