The Candy Cane Invitational drew 15 schools to Murphy, N.C., last Saturday.
The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats made the trip and finished third, and fifth, respectively, in the standings.
Connor Mohon snagged Gilmer’s first-place finish at the event and it came in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:06.56. He was a runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.06.
Isaiah Sharp clocked in at 2:54.11 for third in the 200 individual medley to snatch valuable team points.
Gilmer had a pair of runner-up relay performances in the 400-yard freestyle.
The girls team of Kaitlyn Grice, Emma Schramm, Angel Guidry and Aniston Fowler posted a time of 5:11.39.
The Bobcat quartet of Larz Fowler, Connor Mohon, Kaden Little and Sharp finished in 4:15.06.
In the 200 medley relay, Bobcats Sharp, Connor Mohon, Larz Fowler and Cole Ellis took third in 2:09.17, while Lady Cats Guidry, Aniston Fowler, Cadence Mohon and Mary Parks were fourth (2:33.86).
Gilmer’s remaining individual point scorers included fourth-place Sharp in the 100 free (58.97). Fifth place: Cadence Mohon, 200 free (3:12.16); Ellis, 50 free (28.33) and Larz Fowler, 100 free (1:04.93).
Guidry was sixth in the 100 backstroke at 1:28.97. Seventh place: Aniston Fowler, 50 free (31.48) and 100 free (1:09.65); Little, 100 free (1:07.82) and Cadence Mohon, 100 breaststroke (1:38.58).
Eighth place: Larz Fowler, 50 free (29.08) and Emma Schramm, 100 breaststroke, (1:38.74).Ninth place: Schramm, 50 free (31.61) and Little, 50 free (29.12).
Additionally, Guidry finished 11th in the 50 free (32.95), Parks was 13th in the 100 free (1:24.89) and Grice placed 14th in the 100 free (1:26.34).
Aside from the Bobcats (195 points), the top boys teams were Franklin, N.C., (292) and Rabun Gap (276). North Carolina schools captured the top three positions in the girls standings, which included Franklin (365), Hayesville (300) and Smoky Mountain (230).
Gilmer High swimmers will make their way to Adairsville Thursday for a tri-meet beginning at 6 p.m.
