Fannin tops CCMS 7th, 8th grade Lady Cats

Clear Creek Middle School met an old rival last Monday in the Fannin County Rebels.

The Lady Cats made the trip to Blue Ridge, and the hometown Rebs earned a pair of wins. CCMS seventh graders dropped their game 36-22 before the eighth-grade Cats lost, 52-23.

Sarah Dale, Madison Hall, Jaylee McDaniel and Kiann Jones all netted points for the seventh-grade Cats that allowed them to jump to a 13-7 lead after a quarter.

However, after CCMS was unable to score in the second, Fannin tied the game at 13-all by halftime. Three free throws by Dale accounted for the Cats’ only points in the third as FCMS pulled ahead, 23-16.

Fannin’s offense kept its momentum going to outscore the Cats 13-6 in the fourth as they won by 14. Dale led CCMS with seven points, McDaniel added six, Hall scored five while both Kiann Jones and Mary Grace Jones tallied two apiece.

Not much separated the eighth-grade teams as Fannin inched ahead 7-3 after a quarter. All of the Cats’ second-quarter points came from the free-throw line as FCMS found its stride for 20 points over the eight-minute span.

The Cats trailed 27-11 at the break, and Chelsey Griggs scored all four CCMS points in the third. FCMS extended its lead to 40-15 with a quarter to play where the Rebels added to their lead.

McDaniel was the Cats’ top scorer with seven points, Griggs totaled six, Bree Burnette and Gracie  Pritchett added four apiece and Dale finished with two.

No Bobcats game information was made available by Monday’s early press deadline.
