Clear Creek Middle School wrestlers took to the mat for a pair of home duals before Thanksgiving.
The Bobcats hosted Pickens Nov. 19 and roasted the Dragons, 84-9. White County was in town two days later, and the Warriors suffered the same fate as they lost to CCMS, 59-21.
Of the Bobcats’ 14 wins versus Pickens, 12 came via pin. Bregan Berry (94), Carson Farist (102), Kade Miller (110), Aldin Tiniguar (125), Trace Morton (132), Elias Ramirez (139), David Tercero (147), Kaleb Davis (155), Angelo Spadaro (165), Israel Francisco (180), Matthew Potts (210) and Taylor Schiesser (275) all pinned their Pickens opponent.
Carter Ortiz (72) and Koby Kincaid (79) were victorious by forfeit.
Earning B-team victories for CCMS against Pickens included Alex Raymundo, Jayson Perez, Juan Lopez, John Dorsey, Sarai Solis, Carmela Sanchez, Linda Tercero, Lasha Young, Lane Turner, Anthony Pastor, J.P. Miller, Lashay Young, Cooper Cochran, Jerson Lopez, Carter Ortis, Connor Wood, Christopher Madden, Harrison Chester, Domingo Velasquez, Eddie Gonzalez, Bryson Shubin, Koby Kincaid and Javoni Raymundo.
Clear Creek scored bonus points in nine of 16 bouts against White County. CCMS winners by pin were Kincaid, Berry, Farist, Ramirez, Tercero, Spadaro and Francisco. Tiniguar won by technical fall, and both Hayden Berry (86) and Kade Miller won by minor decision. The Warriors forfeited to Ortiz.
Securing B-team victories were Sean Clark, Harrison Chester, Domingo Velasquez, Jerson Lopez, Madden, Linda Tercero, Dorsey and Atalin Chastain.
“It’s been a tough year being short a coach until recently,” said coach Walt Monroe. “We have done well under the circumstances. Some of our first-year guys have been developing quickly. Some of the experienced wrestlers have really taken on a leadership role helping these kids.”
CCMS wrestled Fannin County at press deadline and will host Lumpkin County Thursday at the gym located at the Larry Walker Education Center.
The Bobcat Invitational will be Saturday at CCMS.
