CCMS wrestling wins again

Clear Creek wrestling was back on the road to take on White County.

The CCMS Bobcats made the trek last Tuesday to meet the host Warriors to continue their league schedule, and they returned to Ellijay with another win, 51-36.

White provided a good test for Clear Creek as the Bobcats have been dealing with seasonal illness. Coach Thomas Glanton was happy to come away with a fourth league victory.

“White County has a very solid lineup this year, and they may be the most physical team we have seen up to this point,” he said. “Our guys came out, worked hard and did some good things on the mat. We are looking forward to the break to heal up and get our weights where we want them.”

Brantley Fain got CCMS on the board with a pin in his 75-pound bout. White forfeited to Gauge Crump at 80 and CCMS led, 12-0. WCMS went on to secure back-to-back pins at 84 and 95 to even the team score. Following Bobcat Braelyn Nelson’s win by decision at 105, White won by the same result at 115.

CCMS got a boost from Miguel Reynoso (125), Dawson Richard (135) and Isaiah Goodwin (145), who all pinned their WCMS opponents. Down 33-15, White got a pin at 155 before Clear Creek’s Madden Hopkins did the same at 165.

Following a Warrior decision at 175, Blane Becker (190) and Fabian Perez (205) both earned pins. CCMS held a 51-24 edge ahead of White’s pins at 225 and 227.

The Bobcats have a 4-0 record against league opponents.
