Clear Creek Middle School wrestlers were on the mat to begin the season at Chestatee Middle School Nov. 2. The traditional event saw CCMS walk away with 12 champions.
The Bobcats were at home three days later for a dual versus the Union County Panthers. CCMS won 10 of 16 bouts for a 54-36 victory.
The Chestatee event was treated as a “scramble,” and wrestlers competed in pools of five to six wrestlers of similar skill levels.
CCMS champions included Kobe Kincaid (79 pounds), Hayden Berry (86), Harrison Chester (90), Bregan Berry (94), Carson Farist (102), Pasqual Escobar (118), Aldin Tiniguar (125), Trace Morton (132) and Angelo Spadaro (165).
Clear Creek’s Andrea Garcia and Queyli Solis were among the female competitors and both finished first.
Tuesday against Union, Kincaid, Hayden Berry, Bregan Berry, Kade Miller (110), Morton, David Tercero (147) and Spadaro all won by pin. Farist was victorious by technical fall, Tiniguar claimed a major decision and Carter Ortiz (72) won by minor decision.
“I was very well pleased with what we got on Tuesday (against Union) from our first-year guys,” said CCMS coach Walt Monroe. “Ortiz, Kincaid, Tiniguar, Israel Francisco (210) and Matthew Potts (275) all wrestled well for first-year guys.
“The Berrys, Farist, Miller and Spadaro all won as expected. Morton is a move-in that is working hard every day and getting better and helping us.”
The Bobcats will attend a tournament at Cass High School Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
