Clear Creek hosted the Bobcat Invitational last Saturday and placed fourth in a crowded wrestling field.
Wrestlers from seven schools competed in ‘A’ and ‘B’ brackets. In the A bracket, Bobcat Jovani Raymundo was the champion at 155 pounds.
CCMS runners-up included Carter Ortis (79 pounds) and Wyatt Stokes (210).
Six Bobcats placed third, which included Kade Miller (118), Letticia Tercero (139), Issac Shorter (145), Trace Morton (165), Chris Madden (180) and Atlalin Chastain (275).
Both Sean Clark (102) and Harrison Chester (110) finished fourth for Clear Creek.
Bobcats Juan Jacinto (139) claimed first place in the B bracket. Angel Garcia (147) and Tomas Tercero (210) both secured runner-up placements.
Placing third were Brayden Walker (86), Isaiah Goodwin (110), Bo Cronic (118) Felicia Yarbrough (132) and Brooklyn Wise (155) while Danica Godfrey (139) was fourth.
Trion won the tournament over Jefferson, 180-178. Cass edged CCMS for third, 142-141, and they were followed by Pickens (127.5), Jackson County (108.5) and Hart County (64).
CCMS also met White County last Monday and notched a 40-27 victory.
Bobcat winners included Tony Puac (72 pounds, forfeit), Ortis (pin), Nelson (minor), Chester (minor), Juan Bautista (major), Isaac Shorter (pin), Raymundo (pin) and Morton (pin).
Prior to Thanksgiving break, the Bobcats traveled to Pickens County Nov. 17 and lost to the Dragons, 48-34.
Puac won by forfeit once again. Ortis, Nelson, Bautista all pinned, Miller was victorious by major decision, and both Madden and Chastain won by minor decision.
CCMS was also in Jasper three days before facing Pickens for the Burnt Mountain Classic and posted a 2-2 record. CCMS defeated Habersham (60-34) and Lumpkin County (45-30) and lost to Dawson County (48-45) and Chestatee (52-31).
CCMS hosted Fannin County at press deadline.
