CCMS 8th grade blanks White County, 14-0

Clear Creek jumped ahead early, and a driving rain and sloppy conditions did not make the White County Warriors’ comeback bid any easier

The CCMS Bobcats scored on their first two possessions and the defense continually made plays all day. The Bobcats forced six turnovers and shut out White for a 14-0 win.

The Warriors received the ball to begin the game and punted. CCMS put together a nine play, 49-yard drive. Wingbacks Talyn Curtis and Kyle Cowart and fullback Kade Miller handled the carries.

Curtis broke loose for a 21-yard gain around the right side to the 12. Three plays later he broke contain on the right edge once more for a 5-yard touchdown run.

White moved into Bobcat territory on its next drive before completing a 20-yard pass. An 11-yard fullback dive progressed them to the 9-yard line.

But a fumble on the next play killed the possession and the Bobcats took over at their 17.

On the second play of the drive, a busted play turned out to be the offensive highlight. Quarterback Issac Rellinger collided with a running back in the back field before shooting through the line for an 82-yard touchdown gallop.

The conversion gave CCMS a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. White drained most of the clock on its next drive, which stalled 5 yards from the goal line.

The Warriors recovered the second half kickoff and were in business at their 49. The Warriors committed their first of five second half turnovers on the possession when Cowart intercepted the ball at the Bobcats’ 3-yard line.

Clear Creek’s five possessions of the second half ended with four punts and a fumble.

After turning the ball over on downs, White’s next drive ended with a Rellinger interception.

While the Cats did fumble the ball back on their ensuing offensive play, White did the same.

Bobcat Dakota Nelson came off the edge and sacked the quarterback and caused a fumble. Curtis was there for the recovery.

The Warriors’ next drive ended when Clear Creek’s Noah Banks snagged an interception. Rellinger was there to pluck the ball out of the air on the Warriors’ final drive of the game to cement the Bobcats’ win.

 

7th grade shows improvement in 22-14 loss

The seventh-grade Bobcats took the field after their older counterparts and a late touchdown allowed White County to snatch a 22-14 victory.

Bobcat Blake Grizzle came up big for CCMS with a second quarter interception he returned 22 yards to the 2-yard line. Quarterback Bo Chronic slipped across the goal line for a 6-0 Bobcat lead early in the second quarter.

The Warriors put together a 48-yard touchdown drive before the half as the score was knotted at 6-6.

The Bobcats reclaimed the lead in the third quarter when wingback Carter Ortis made his way through the line and 35 yards to the end zone for a CCMS touchdown.

White maneuvered down field once more and tied the game early in the fourth quarter, 14-14. 

On the ensuing possession, a Bobcat fumble was recovered by White County and returned for a touchdown. The successful two-point conversion accounted for the game’s final points.

The eighth-grade Bobcats have a 1-2 record while the seventh grade is 0-2. CCMS will host Dawson County Thursday with the eighth-grade kickoff set for 5 p.m.
