Gilmer High was on the field for more region softball action, and they lost three games.
The GHS Lady Cats hosted Calhoun last Monday, and the Yellow Jackets took advantage of errors. CHS tamed the Cats’ bats for a 10-0 victory.
The LaFayette Ramblers were in town the following day. More errors followed, and LHS won handily, 11-2. Gilmer met the Ramblers in LaFayette two days later and lost, 5-1.
While Calhoun did cash in five unearned runs due to GHS errors, all four of the Jackets’ first inning runs were earned. A solo homer was followed by a pair of walks. A base hit to left scored two runs, and CHS led 4-0 with a two-out single to right.
Calhoun tacked on two more runs in the third, and one was unearned. CHS collected three hits in the fifth, but all four runs were attributed to Gilmer errors.

LaFayette added three more hits in the fifth. Four of the Ramblers’ five runs were unearned.
Lady Cat Mary Grace Jones tripled in their next at-bat. She came home to score Gilmer’s second and final run when McDaniel grounded out. The game was then called because of run differential.
McDaniel also added a hit to bring Gilmer’s tally to three for the day. Fortune pitched the entire game and struck out eight and walked three.
The Cats cut their errors to two Thursday in LaFayette, and the Ramblers earned four runs.
