The Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s swim season is set for its finale.
Districts from around the state will gather in Baxley Saturday to decide who is No. 1. The Gilmer Swim Team will be in attendance, and 26 combined Bobcats and Lady Cats will make the trip across five age groups.
Some are set for their last season in the top 15-18 age division, and making their way to state are Gilmer’s Ronald Sturgis, Cheyne Smith, Jacob Kucera and Conner Defoor. For the Lady Cats, Elizabeth Kucera and Yana Jones will continue their seasons.
Next up are swimmers in the 13-14 age group. Bobcats Rylee Fountain, Jacob Watson and Reece Smith will advance to state. Addison Potter will represent Gilmer on the girls side.
Six more Gilmer swimmers will be in the pool among 11-12 year olds and include Silas Wilson and Emmett Patterson. Lady Cat state-bound swimmers are comprised of Kaley Best, Saylor Cinard, Sophia DeMarco and Lilly Jones.
Gilmer’s next qualifiers come in the 9-10 age division with Bobcats Theo Gabriel, Ryland Homan, Ryder Johnstone and Grayson Patterson and Lady Cats Jacey Burney, Kathryn Edelson and Harper Hoover.
The youngest swimmers at state will be 6-8 year olds. Gilmer will be represented by Bobcat Asher Faulk and Lady Cats Scarlett Edelson and Harper Hoover.
The GRPA C State Championships will be held Saturday at the Appling Aquatics Center.
