The swim season got underway at the Cherokee Summer League Kick Off.
The four-team event was held last Thursday at the Cherokee Aquatic Center, and the Gilmer Swim Team placed second in both the boys and girls standings.
Lady Cats
In the 15-18 age bracket, Elizabeth Kucera was second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:15.22) and 50 free (31.88) and third in the 50-yard breaststroke (49.06). Addison Potter, 100-yard individual medley (2:03.25, second place), 50-yard backstroke (39.96, second) and 50 free (43.22, third).
Julianna Guidry competed in the 13-14 age group in the 50 free (50.16, fifth) and 50 back (1:04.01, fifth).
11-12 division: Saylor Cinard, Kaley Best, Braylee Green and Jacey Burney, 200-yard medley relay (3:31.32, second) and 100 free relay (1:14.16, second). Burney 100 IM (2:10.80, third), 50-yard butterfly (1:01.08, third) and 50 free (39.40, seventh).
Cinard 100 free (1:25.79, second), 50 free (38.46, fourth) and 50 breast (1:09.10, fifth). Green 50 breast (55.06, third), 50 back (1:01.65, seventh) and 50 free (46.38, 11th).
Ava Williamson 50 fly (1:08.81, fourth), 50 free (38.59, fifth) and 50 back (59.92, sixth). Best 100 free (1.34.23, third), 50 back (54.24, fourth) and 50 free (41.23, ninth).
Ages 9-10: Kathryn Edelson 25 breast (23.62, first), 50 free (41.13, second) and 25 free (19.87, third). Calissa Shoilekov 25 free (19.35, second), 50 free (45.19, third) and 25 back (30.57, third). Harlan Gray 25 back (27.72, second), 25 free (21.53, sixth) and 50 free (52.68, seventh).

7-8: Charlotte Kingsley, Violet Faulk, Scarlett Edelson, and Laken Johnstone won the 100 free relay (2:00.76). Willow Shoilekov joined the trio instead of Johnstone in the 100 medley relay for second place (2:23.10).

6-under: Johnstone second place in the 25 free (29.88) and 25 back (40.60). Sadie Mae Rice took third place in the 25 free (41.22).
Bobcats
Cheyne Smith was the lone Bobcat swimmer in the 15-18 age division, and he won the 50 free in 26.40. He secured runner-up placements in both the 100 free (59.46) and 50 breast (35.71).
For 13-14 aged swimmers, Jacob Watson, Rylee Fountain, Reece Smith and Silas Wilson claimed first in the 100 free relay at 58.12. They were second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:41.53.
Also, Watson 50 back (41.91, first), 50 free (30.16, third) and 50 breast (46.59, fourth). Smith 50 breast (44.55, third), 50 free (31.97, fourth) and 100 free (1:13.14, sixth). Fountain 100 IM (1:34.16, third), 100 free (1:08.62, fifth) and 50 free (33.13, fifth). Wilson 50 breast (48.34, fifth), 50 free (38.00, seventh) and 100 free (1:26.35, eighth).
In the 11-12 age group, Ryder Johnstone, Emmett Patterson, Joel Newton and Beckett Gray were second in both the 200 medley (4:09.99) and 100 free (1:30.27) relays.
Also, Johnstone 100 IM (1:47.99, second), 100 free (1:26.32, third) and 50 free (36.10, fourth). Patterson 50 breast (57.72, third), 100 free (1:40.63, sixth) and 50 free (47.47, ninth). Gray 50 free (1:00.09, fifth), 100 free (2:18.82, ninth) and 50 free (48.12, 10th). Newton 50 back (1:15.19, seventh), 100 free (2:53.81, 10th) and 50 free (1:15.19, 12th).
Gilmer also had a top relay team in the 9-10 age division. Grayson Kingsley, Gus Moore, Grayson Patterson and Asher Faulk had the top time of 1:42.52 in the 100 medley. In the 100 free, they were second in 1:25.45.
Also, Kingsley 25 breast (29.40, first), 50 free (39.22, second) and 25 fly (23.39, third). Moore 25 free (25.97, fourth), 50 free (55.97, fifth) and 25 back (32.39, sixth). Patterson 25 back (25.28, first) and 25 free (21.66, second).
Faulk was fourth in the 25 fly (28.20). Boone Wilson 25 free (33.41, eighth), 50 free (1:14.68, 10th) and 25 back (38.37, 10th).
Cartersville took first over the Bobcats, 1,369-758. Cherokee was third (543) and Pickens took fourth (162). The girls team placements were identical as Cartersville led the way and was followed by Gilmer (1,021.5), Cherokee (650) and Pickens (440.5).
Gilmer hosts a home meet Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.
