Senior night in Calhoun drew Gilmer High swimmers.
The nine-team meet was held last Tuesday, and Lady Cat Esther Bowman was a runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke for the team’s best finish.
She posted a time of 1:30.11 and secured a second top-10 finish in the 50-yard freestyle (eighth, 30.82).
Evan May was the No. 6 100-yard backstroke swimmer, and she clocked in at 1:22.89. Cheyne Smith claimed the Bobcats’ top placement with fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (57.03).
The Lady Cats swam in both relays. In the 200-yard freestyle, Bowman, Elizabeth Kucera, Yana Jones and May were seventh in 2:11.88. May, Bowman, Lana Ginger and Rosalie Ballew completed the 200 medley in 3:03.91 for ninth.
Behind Bowman in the 50 free were Kucera (11th, 31.84), May (13th, 31.99), Jones (17th, 33.59), Ginger (26th, 37.59) and Ballew (47th, 51.09). Jones finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:20.94. Next up were Ginger (17th, 1:36.46) and Ballew (27th, 2:03.93).
Kucera was also sixth in the 500-yard free at 7:48.23.
Conner Defoor placed 23rd in the 100 free (1:19.61) and 41st in the 50 free (36.24). Smith landed in 42nd in the 50 free (36.27), and Clifford Defoor was 46th (42.89). Clifford also placed 13th in the 100 back (2:01.95).
The state meet will be Feb. 7, 9-10 at Georgia Tech.
