The CCMS Bobcats continued their league football schedule last Wednesday at Lumpkin County. The Indians won the eighth-grade game, 26-20. “Knox Queen played quarterback because (Alex) Raper is out,” said head coach Willie Dodaro. “They played their hearts out and we absolutely battled. We didn’t give anything away, and we played hard. Unfortunately, some things went in their favor, but we played the best you can play to win a football game, and I was really proud of them.” The seventh-grade Bobcats won in overtime, 40-38. They found themselves down 24-8 at halftime and battled back. The game went into overtime even at 32-32, and CCMS scored a touchdown first before LCMS did the same. However, the Bobcats made a stop on the two-point conversion to secure the win. “Their success this season comes from the competitiveness they have to become better. That was their goal and that comes with hard work. They have continuously since June 3 shown that effort, and it has paid off.” CCMS hosts Pickens today at 5 p.m.
