Gilmer’s Taylor Schiesser has earned another medal during the USA Wrestling season.
Her latest success took place in West Virginia last weekend at the Viper Pit Nationals. She took the mat at 180 pounds and placed second in freestyle.
Following an opening round bye, Schiesser met Kaitlynn Pegeralla of Arizona in the quarterfinals and earned a pin. Next up was New York’s Sophie Pollack, who Schiesser pinned in the second period.
The win set up a finals match against No. 1 nationally ranked Sabrina Nauss of Michigan. Schiesser endured an early injury and was pinned in the opening period. The injury also forced Schiesser to forgo the folkstyle portion of the event.
Schiesser wrestled on team Charlie’s Angels and they placed 10th overall.
