Clear Creek Middle School notched six more wins on the basketball court.
The seventh- and eighth-grade Lady Cats both earned wins over Lumpkin County (45-33 and 47-29, respectively) before decisive victories versus Pickens (46-16 and 51-21).
The Bobcat seventh graders were also undefeated (42-27 and 59-19) on the week while the older Cats dropped both of their games (57-38 and 58-40).
Lady Cats
The seventh-grade game versus Lumpkin at home last Monday was close for a half, but the Cats took the lead in the third quarter and widened it in the fourth. Kristena Baily scored 10 points in the first half and added nine more in the second to lead CCMS offensively.
The eighth-grade Cats hit four threes in the second quarter to put LCMS on the ropes early. CCMS continued to outpace the Indians in the second half and Mak Taylor (19 points) and Ally Phillips (12) were Clear Creek’s top scorers.
CCMS traveled to Pickens Thursday, and the Dragonettes never had a chance. The seventh-grade Cats led 13-0 after a quarter, and it did not get any better for Pickens. Lola Howard, Kenzie Farmer and Braley Stewart scored eight points apiece.
The eighth-grade game started in a similar fashion and CCMS led 14-1 after seven minutes of play. They extended that to 30-8 at the half and never looked back. Taylor scored 19 of her team-high 31 points in the first half and did not play in the fourth quarter.

Bobcats
Lumpkin did not have the offensive firepower to keep up with the seventh graders. The Bobcat tandem of Kayson Taylor and Noah Rice combined to score 33 points in the 15-point win.
The eighth graders trailed 18-2 after a quarter but came alive in the second to cut the Indians’ lead to 23-20. A strong third quarter saw Lumpkin’s lead swell to 54-32, and they pulled away in the fourth.
Andrew Chastain scored 11 points for the Cats, and he was also their leading scorer three days later versus Pickens with 14. The Dragons tripled the Cats’ points in the second quarter to lead 27-13 at the half.
The Bobcats were able to draw within 10 in the fourth, but Pickens cemented the win.
The seventh-grade Bobcats pounced on the Dragons from the start. Pickens had no answer for Silas West (16 points) or Rice (15) and CCMS built a 42-13 halftime edge.
Plenty of players took the court in the second half, and Reece Bramlett came off the bench to drain a pair of fourth quarter threes.
