Gilmer High volleyball was in White County for another nonregion match.
The Lady Cats made the trip last Thursday to take on the Warriors. The best out of five sets was used to declare a winner, and White came out on top, 3-1.
“We faltered when we opened the third and fourth sets,” said head coach Maria Huelsman. “There are mental errors that we can’t afford like missed serves, and that’s what we did.”
White took the first set 25-18 before GHS rebounded for a 25-14 win in the second. WCHS then claimed victories of 25-19 and 25-18 to win the match.
“I’m pretty pleased with them. They improve every time they’re on the court, and their confidence is getting better,” Huelsman said. “They are seeing that we’ve faced some really stiff competition. We’ve really only played two teams that are down teams. They’re seeing they can compete, and their confidence is just getting better as the season goes on and it’s starting to click now. Hopefully when we open region we’re going to see some of that positivity transfer.”
GHS has a 5-8 record and started region play at press deadline against Ridgeland.
