Gilmer High opened its golf season at home versus an old rival.
The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats hosted Pickens last Tuesday at Whitepath Golf Course for a nine-hole match. The Lady Cats earned a 164-168 win, while the Bobcats fell, 196-214.
For the girls, the top three individual scores were used to determine the team score. Anna Waddell led the way for GHS with a 43 and was followed by Maddie Wright (58), Madison Stanley (63), Arielle Smith (63) and Allie Mayo (63).
For the boys, the top four golfers’ scores counted toward the team tally. Bobcat Grant Ballew shot a 46 and Luke Janssen posted a 54, while Chris Gaddis, Caden Stover, Hershel Defoor and Connor Wimpey all needed 57 strokes.
GHS traveled to Bent Tree at press deadline to face Pickens and Sonoraville.
