Gilmer High baseball continued its nonregion baseball schedule and added another win to its credit.
The GHS Bobcats hosted Pickens last Tuesday, and the visiting Dragons came on strong early and added insurance runs late. Six Gilmer errors led to four unearned runs as the Dragons claimed a 14-6 win.
The Cats were at North Murray Friday, and they had to battle back against the Mountaineers. Gilmer scored in all but one inning to erase a five-run deficit for a 9-8 victory.
Pickens belted 13 hits and four came in the first inning. A pair of doubles and two GHS errors spotted the Dragons a 5-0 lead.
Bobcat Noah Gutillo’s double in the bottom of the inning scored Haden West who reached on an error. Gutillo made his way to second on a passed ball and trotted home when Hayden Berry flew out to right field.
PHS scored another unearned run in the second, and GHS responded with a run in each of its next two at-bats. Gilmer’s final two runs in the fifth were unearned.
Pickens plated four runs in the fifth and two apiece in the sixth and seventh innings.
Mel Mosley also knocked in a run along with Gutillo and Berry.

Gilmer doubled North Murray’s hits with 10. However, NMHS took advantage of seven walks to prolong innings and buoy its run production.

Meanwhile, NMHS plated a run in the first and six more in the second for a 7-3 advantage. The Cats answered with runs in each of their next four at-bats.

In the sixth, Chancey and Hatchett singled. The former scored on Cooper’s double to left, and Hatchett crossed home plate when West drew a bases loaded walk.
Down 9-7, NMHS scored a final run in the sixth. The Mountaineers had two runners on base in the seventh with one out, but Cochran and the defense got out of the inning unscathed.
Cooper earned the win and tossed three innings. He allowed an earned run on three hits, struck out four and walked two, Landon McClure got the start and issued five walks and gave up two hits and two earned runs while striking out four.
