Gilmer High was in Acworth for its latest cross-country invitational.
The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats made their way to Allatoona Creek Park last Saturday for the 8th annual Big Peach Stampede.
The Bobcats placed 16th out of 20 boys teams with 451 points, and the Lady Cats (352 points) placed 13th in girls standings.
Freshman Dawson Richard was the top overall GHS runner and led the way for the Bobcats. He completed the 5K course in 18:12.31 for 44th place. Talyn Mesner was the 100th boys runner to finish and did so in 19:40.18.
Bobcats Seth Turner (20:08.22) and Hannes Sobottka (20:13.97) finished consecutively in 124th and 125th place as Leelan Dantin (139th place, 20:45.04). rounded out Gilmer’s point scorers.
reshman Estephany Becerra was the No. 1 finisher for the Lady Cats once again. She placed 69th in 23:29.82, and teammate Salma Gonzalez was next in 84th at 24:21.12. Amilia Raymundo (109th, 26:21.49), Maria Alonzo (112th, 26:26.20) and Florinda Lopez (117th, 27:34.61) also scored team points.
Three more Lady Cats completed the race and included Angelica Lopez (121st, 30:38.67), Maggie Thompson (123rd, 33:39.63) and Xiare Ramirez (124th, 33:41.10).
Remaining Bobcat runners included Nelson Jacinto (15th, 21:24.93), Cristofer Chun-Bell (165th, 22:35.28), Edward Marietta (166th, 22:35.99) and Daniel Gonzales (166th JV, 25:16.73).
West Forsyth outpaced Parkview for first in the boys standings, 49-55. River Ridge (163) secured third place. For the girls, Wesleyan nipped West Forsyth for first, 41-47, and Parkview (92) was third.
GHS and Clear Creek Middle hosted the North Georgia Championships at press deadline.
