The TikTok Klassic drew some top competition to the annual swim meet in Calhoun.
The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats were in attendance last Saturday and tallied 29 and six points, respectively.
One of Gilmer’s top placements came in the boys 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Larz Fowler, Jacob Kucera, Hayden Morrison and Cheyne Smith placed eighth with a time of 1:44.48. In the 200 medley relay, they landed in 11th in 2:01.86.
Kucera also claimed seventh in the 50-yard free (24.46) and was there for an 11th place time of 1:10.71 in the 100-yard backstroke. Fowler nabbed 11th place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:26.01) and 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.93).
Smith took 26th in the 100 free (1:02.28) and 33rd in the 50 free (27.07), and Morrison finished 36th in the 50 free (27.55). Macca Teeranangsu placed 42nd in 100 free (1:18.76) and 76th in the 50 free (33.29).
Tanner Attebery posted times of 1:23.13 in the 100 free for 48th and 34.29 in the 50 free for 81st. Michael Sexton was 77th in the 50 free at 33.31.
The Lady Cats found success in relays as well. Gilmer’s Esther Bowman, Elizabeth Kucera, Taylor McCormick and Lillie Martin ended the 200 free relay in 13th place in 2:11.45. Bowman, McCormick, Yana Jones and Kucera also placed 16th in the 200 medley in 2:40.38.
Bowman turned in a pair of top-20 times in the 200 free (12th, 2:42.68) and 100 breast (18th, 1:37.77).
In the 100 free, Gilmer’s times and places were secured by McCormick (20th, 1:11.80), May (29th, 1:15.45), Kucera (33rd, 1:16.82) and Jones (57th, 1:33.20). McCormick also came in 19th in the 50 free at 29.81.
Remaining results included Kucera, 100 back (25th, 1:34.20); May, 100 breast (28th, 1:44.90); Martin, 100 breast (29th, 1:44.90) and 50 free (58th, 35.47) and Jones in the 50 free (67th, 36.40).
Marist (345 points) was first in the girls standings ahead of Calhoun (230) and Centennial (162), while the Lady Cats placed 16th. The Bobcats finished 10th in the boys standings. Calhoun (292.5) placed first as Pace Academy (234) and Marist (219) rounded out the top three.
