Gilmer softball had another three-game week and the Cats earned one victory.
The GHS Lady Cats were at Gordon Central last Monday, and they only needed four innings to crush the hometown Warriors, 18-0.
Gilmer continued its region schedule the next day at Adairsville, and the Tigers won the low-scoring affair, 2-1. GHS hosted Adairsville two days later, and the Cats’ offense was held in check as they lost, 6-0.
Gilmer’s victory over Gordon Central was complete domination. The Cats’ offensive barrage included 13 hits and five were for extra bases.
Lily Fortune collected three hits on the day, which included two doubles. Jaylee McDaniel finished with three hits as well and one was a triple. Both drove in two runs.
Melissa Rasmussen was part of Gilmer’s three-hit club as well, and she knocked in a run. Makayla Martin notched two hits and, Emma Cagle had a hit to go with two RBIs. Gracie Gaitanoglou and Mia Henson each had one RBI.
Fortune and McDaniel shared the pitching duties, both tossed two innings and neither gave up a hit. Fortune fanned six and McDaniel struck out three and walked one.
After a scoreless first inning, GHS plated two runs in the first. In the second, the Cats blew the game wide open with nine runs for an 11-0 lead. Seven more runs followed in the fourth and the game was called after Gordon Central’s at-bat. Four Warrior errors led to six unearned GHS runs.
The Cats tallied five hits against Adairsville Tuesday but left six runners stranded in scoring position, which included two in the both the first and seventh innings. AHS scored the game’s initial run in the third and it was unearned.
GHS plated an unearned run as well in the sixth when Tigers throwing errors on Martin’s sacrifice bunt allowed Mary Grace Jones to score.
However, AHS responded in its half of the inning. A double sandwiched between singles plated the go-ahead run.
Gilmer loaded the bases with no outs in its next at-bat but could not push any runs across.
Martin, McDaniel, Fortune, Cagle and Henson had one hit apiece. Fortune pitched all six innings and stuck out seven and gave up six hits.
Jones accounted for Gilmer’s lone hit Thursday. AHS scored a run in the first and third innings and four in the fourth. GHS committed a pair of errors and two Tiger runs were unearned.

GHS hosted Calhoun Monday evening and lost, 10-0. The Cats are 3-9 overall, which includes a 0-5 region record. GHS faced LaFayette at press deadline, and the Cats will travel to LaFayette Thursday for a 6 p.m. game.
