Gilmer was in Canton for their opening meet of the cross-country season.
The Fleet Feet Cherokee Classic at Boling Park was held last Saturday and 20 GHS runners were in attendance.
All of the Lady Cats point scorers finished inside the top 80. Lambert’s Emily Autry led the way in 12:33.80. Freshman Ella Schwartz was first to cross the finish line for the Cats in 14:24.10 for 17th place. Jennifer Garcia (15:17.60) and Allison Hernandez (15:18.30) finished consecutively in 34th and 35th place.
Salma Gonzalez was next in 15:33.80 for 44th, and Jayla Walker was 78th in 16:46.70.
Junior Dawson Richard was the No. 1 Bobcat at the event, and he completed the course in 13:26.39 for 34th. Also placing in the top 100 were Seth Turner (13:56.40) and Leeland Dantin (14:28.10) in 49th and 66th, respectively. They were followed by teammates Edward Marietta (16:31.30, 120th), Jacob Pantoja (17:11.42, 131st) and Daniel Gonzales (22:06.37, 150th).
Also running at the meet were Lady Cats Lauren Smith (17:11.90, 81st), Selina Tercero Bautista (17:39.70, 91st), Estephany Becerra (17:40.40, 92nd), Braelyn Nolasco-Chun (20:17.00, 110th), Evelyn Martinez Garcia (20:29.40, 84th), Rose Bawihnem (21:19.40, 91st), Alicia Tercero-Rafael (21:52.60, 101st), Josselyn Sanchez-Cecilio (22:05.10, 104th) and Juana Tercero-Rafael (28:46.70, 128th).
