Gilmer High swimmers returned to the pool for the Tiger Plunge.
The meet was held in Adairsville last Saturday and attracted 14 teams. The GHS Bobcats tallied 81 points for 10th in the boys standings, while the Lady Cats placed 11th with 61 points.
Payton Woodring was the top point scorer for GHS on the day. She qualified for state with first-place times in the 100-yard freestyle (55.06) and 200 free (1:59.18).
Ian Berry was the Bobcats’ No. 1 swimmer. In the 50 free he placed seventh in 25.79 and secured eighth in the 100 free at 58.54.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Berry was joined by Ty Cox, Larz Fowler and Jacob Kucera, and they clocked in at 1:51.53 for fourth place. The quartet also finished 10th in the 200 medley relay in 2:16.96.
Also competing in the 50 free were Kucera (12th place, 27.09), Fowler (13th, 27.22), Hayden Morrison (26th, 30.49) and Luke Cain (47th, 34.37).
Swimmers, placements and times in the 100 free included Fowler (17th, 1:03.66), Kucera (18th, 1:03.89), Morrison (21st, 1:08.66), Cox (23rd, 1:09.84) and Cain (34th, 1:16.67). Cox swam the 100-yard backstroke and finished 17th in 1:38.10.
The Lady Cat team of Kaitlyn Grice, Lillie Martin, Esther Bowman and Woodring placed 11th in the 200 free relay at 2:17.26.
Swimming in the 50 free were Bowman (23rd, 33.10), Lyra May (46th, 37.15), Martin (53rd, 38.98), Alyson Guidry (63rd, 40.75), Hannah Lowman (77th, 43.24) and Addison Emond (83rd, 44.92).
Gilmer’s results in the 100 free were Bowman (14th, 1:16.66), Martin (27th, 1:27.25), May (28th, 1:27.36), Grice (30th, 1:30.97) and Emond (45th, 1:44.08).
The top three girls teams were North Paulding (352 points), Eastside (339) and Darlington (244). Adairsville clipped North Paulding for first on the boys side, 330-306, and Social Circle (288) was third.
