Ten teams gathered at the Calhoun Aquatic Center to continue the swim season.
The meet was held last Thursday, and the Gilmer High Bobcats (103 points) placed fourth out of eight teams in the boys standings. The Lady Cats were seventh among the 10 girls teams with 36 points.
GHS swimmers continued to improve their times, and Bobcat Ian Berry placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (25.70) and eighth in the 100 free (57.53).
The Bobcats also turned in three top-10 times in relays. In the 200-yard freestyle, Larz Fowler, Jacob Kucera, Kaden Little and Berry placed fourth in 1:47.81. The same swimmers took seventh in the 200-yard medley relay at 2:07.86.
In the 400 free, Little, Luke Cain, Hayden Morrison and Kucera clocked in at 4:41.76 for sixth.
Four more Bobcats competed in the 100 free, which included Kucera (10th, 26.74), Fowler (16th, 27.86), Morrison (19th, 28.28), and Michael Sexton (39th, 33.16).
In the 100 free were Gilmer’s Fowler (seventh, 1:22.38), Morrison (17th, 1:09.71) and Sexton (29th, 1:21.93). Little placed 11th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:22.74.
The Lady Cat 400-freestyle relay team of Esther Bowman, Addison Emond, Hannah Lowman and Kaitlyn Grice posted a time of 6:06.56 for eighth. In the 200 free relay, Bowman was joined by Lillie Martin, Lyra May and Alyson Guidry, and they placed ninth in 2:28.02.
Bowman finished seventh in the 200 free at 2:58.39. Grice placed 11th in the 100 free in 1:16.00, while Martin landed in 18th at 1:23.63 and May posted a time of 1:24.50 for 20th.
Lady Cat times and placements in the 50 free included Grice (12th, 32.65), Bowman (17th, 34.12), May (28th, 36.15), Guidry (38th, 39.68) and Emond (42nd, 44.30). Martin took 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:46.10.
At the top of the girls standings were River Ridge (379 points), Calhoun (234) and Eagles Landing (160).
Calhoun’s boys finished ahead of River Ridge for first place, 370-341. Model tallied 114 for a third-place finish.
