The Gilmer Bobcats and Lady Cats combined for 15 top placements to win their latest track meet.
GHS hosted Pickens and Fideles Christian School last Wednesday. The Bobcats rolled to a 74-44 win over Fideles while Pickens was third (29). The Lady Cats defeated Fideles as well, 66-57, and Pickens totaled 10 points.
Individual Bobcat champions included Will Kiker in the discus (122’ 11”), triple jump (42’ 1”) and 100-meter dash (11.62). Kendall Sanders was the top 110-meter hurdler in 18.03.
Talyn Mesner won the 3,200-meter run (11:51.63), John Keener led the way in the 400 meters (56.27) and Aspen Hataway cleared 11’ for first in the pole vault.
The Bobcats won the 4x800 relay (10:36.40) and took second in the 4x100 (47.69) and 4x400 (3:55.58).
Kenzie Sewell was a two-time champ for the Lady Cats. She won the 100 (13.67) and 200 meter (28.53) dashes for the second week in a row. Taylor McCormick kept her string of first place leaps in the high jump in tact at 5’ 4”.
In relays, the Lady Cats led the way in the 4x100 (54.50), 4x800 (14:27.40) and were second in the 4x400 (4:57.85).
Kayleigh Robbins had the best mark in the long jump (14’ 9”) as did Abbie Elliott in the triple jump (29’ 7’). Abigale Ingle won the 300-meter hurdles in 1:01.50.
Lady Cat runners-up included Amayah Jones (100, 13.70 and long jump, 11’ 10”), Josephine Royer (400, 1:08.79), Jayla Walker (1,600, 7:06.13 and 3,200, 15:13.85) and McCormick (triple jump, 29’ 3”).
Finishing second for the Bobcats were Hunter Britain (200, 25.76), Max New (3,200, 13:01.77), Carson Hughes (110 hurdles, 19.34), Sanders (300 hurdles, 46.61 and triple jump, 38’ 4”), Keener (pole vault, 9’ 6”) and Charles Norman (shot put, 33’ 11”).
Gilmer returns to the track Wednesday and will host Pickens for a 4 p.m. meet.
