Summer vacation is right around the corner for the county’s students, and Gilmer High School will hold its annual slate of youth sports camps beginning next month.
Girls basketball camp will be June 2-4 at the GHS gym from 10 a.m. to noon. The camp is open to girls entering third through sixth grade and the cost is $65. Football camp will be June 2-4 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium’s Pettit Field. The camp is open to rising first through sixth graders and the cost is $50. Pay at MyPaymentPlus.com.
Campers are encouraged to bring cleats and gym shoes and to wear a T-shirt, shorts and socks. Campers are advised to bring no more than $4 in pocket money for snacks/drinks. The campers should not bring watches, any jewelry or other small articles of value which could be lost easily.

Cheerleading camp will be June 9-12 at the Clear Creek Middle School’s gym from 9 a.m. to noon. The camp is open to girls who are entering pre-K through sixth grade. The cost is $60 if preregistered and $70 on the first day of camp. Campers should bring a water bottle with their name on it. Baseball camp will be June 18-20 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Gilmer Baseball Field located on the GHS campus. The camp is open to boys entering first through eighth grade and the cost is $60. Campers are encouraged to wear molded cleats (no spikes) or tennis shoes, baseball pants and bring a glove, bat, helmet (optional), catcher’s gear and plenty of energy.
The baseball program also holds a father/son camp June 14 from 8 a.m. to noon. The camp is open to boys entering kindergarten through 12th grade and their fathers (or male mentor) and cost is $40. The little kids camp (first through fifth grade) will be held at CCMS, while the big kids camp (sixth through eighth grade) will be at GHS.
