It has been feast or famine for the Gilmer Bobcats when it comes to region play.
GHS continued its region baseball schedule versus Dawson County. After losing its first two series, Gilmer won five of six region games. The Bobcats were swept by the Tigers last week by scores of 10-0, 9-3 and 12-1.
The Cats outhit Dawson on the road in game one Monday, and had base runners in all but one inning. Hits with runners in scoring position did not come for GHS, and its seven errors led to four unearned runs for DCHS.
The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning, two in the third, and a grand slam added four more in the fourth. Dawson brought the game to an early end in the fifth with its 10th run.
Branson Teague and Carter Jones each had two hits for GHS while Blake Zabala, Austin Zabala, Ethan McCollum and Billy Goswick had one apiece.

Gilmer was at home Thursday and struck for two runs in its first at-bat. McCollum drew a bases loaded walk, and Blake Zabala scored when Goswick grounded out to first.
DCHS got a run back in the third, and Gilmer scored again in its half of the inning. Blake Zabala reached on a two-out double and came home when McCollum collected his second RBI on the day with a base hit to left field.
Dawson had 11 hits on the day, and three came in its six-run fifth inning. The Tigers also took advantage of three walks, a hit batter and an error to open a 7-3 lead. DCHS plated two more runs in the seventh to win by six.
Teague once again had a two-hit game for GHS. Gilmer pitching: Grant Cochran 4 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 5 K, 4 BB. Jones 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER. Teague 1 IP, 2 K, 1 BB. West 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K 1 BB.
The teams matched each other hit for hit in Dawson Friday, and GHS left four runners stranded in scoring position. Three GHS defensive miscues accounted for five unearned Tiger runs.
DCHS scored three runs in its first at-bat, six more in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth. Gilmer’s lone run came in the first off the bat of Blake Zabala. When GHS was unable to cut the deficit to under 10 runs in the fifth, the game was called.
