Gilmer High swimmers were at River Ridge High School for their first meet of 2022.
The 10-team event took place last Saturday, and the GHS Bobcats placed third with 222 points behind first-place Lakeside (601) and River Ridge (545).
The Lady Cats (169) ended their day in sixth place in the girls standings as Lakeside (546), River Ridge (317) and East Paulding (317) rounded out the top three.
Gilmer’s Payton Woodring completed a first-place sweep in both of her events. She posted the top times in the 100-yard backstroke (59.14) and 100-yard butterfly (58.50).
Bobcat Law Lykins had a pair of top-10 times in the 50-yard freestyle (fifth, 24.91) and 100-yard freestyle (seventh, 58.92). Teammate Larz Fowler clocked in at 1:23.02 for fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke and placed 23rd in the 50 free (28.26).
Bobcat Ian Berry finished seventh in the 50 free at 25.55, while Jacob Kucera claimed the same place in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:46.76.
Lady Cat Esther Bowman took eighth in the 200 free (3:05.86) and 15th in the 100 free (1:18.83).
Remaining individual Lady Cat results included Lillie Martin in the 100 breaststroke (13th, 1:45.17) and 50 free (41st, 38.55), Lyra May in the 50 free (33rd, 36.09) and Addison Emond (57th, 44:99).
In relays, the 200-yard free team of Bowman, Martin, Kaitlyn Grice and Woodring placed seventh in 2:16.65. They swapped May for Bowman in the 200 medley and came in 11th at 2:41.63.
The Bobcats’ 200 free relay team of Lykins, Kucera, Kaden Little and Berry secured fourth in 1:46.99. Hayden Morrison, Luke Cain, Ty Cox and Kucera teamed up for sixth in the 400 free at 4:52.70. The 200 medley team consisted of Little, Fowler, Lykins and Berry, and they placed eighth with a time of 2:04.90.
Little was 12th in the 50 free (26.50), and Morrison finished 15th in the 100 free (1:10.96) and 28th in the 100 free (29.15). Cox took 15th in the 100 free (1:10.69).
Gilmer will return to the pool Saturday at the Calhoun Aquatic Center for the Northwest Georgia Championships.
