Clear Creek Middle School returned home from the state track meet with a pair of top 10 placements.
Teams from across the state gathered for the Georgia Middle School State Championships April 21-22 in Lilburn.
Leading the way for CCMS were Lady Cat Lilyan Cook and Bobcat Dawson Richard. Cook’s throw of 91’ 9” in the discus allowed her to claim fourth place. Richard tossed the discus 126’ 10” for 10th place in the boys standings.
Cook also placed 19th in the shot put (31’), while Richard was 26th in the 3,200-meter run (11:32.99). Maddy Patterson finished 23rd in the discus with a throw of 67’ 2”.
The Bobcat 4x800 relay team’s time of 10:38.78 was good enough for 22nd place. They also finished 30th in the 4x400 (4:21.01) and were 43th in the 4x100 at 53.17.
Remaining Bobcat placers included Jett Burrell, long jump (14’ 4”, 59th place); Madden Hopkins, shot put (31’ 7 1/2”, 50th) and Richard, shot put (30’ 10”, 56th).
Morgan Palmeri competed in the 1,600-meter finals and finished 76th in 6:31.61.
Lady Cat preliminary results: Rose Everett, 100-meter dash (14.29), 200 meters (28.81) and 400 meters (1:05.37); Jilly Burnette, 200 meters (31.10); Emma Cagle, 400 meters (1:14.08); Madison Balanno, 100-meter hurdles (21.07) and Jude Jones, 100 hurdles (30.05).
Bobcat preliminary results: Bralyn Nelson, 100 meters (13.93); Carlos Montes, 200 meters (30.32) and Seth Turner, 400 meters (1:02.23).
