North Georgia Mountain League teams gathered at Clear Creek Middle School to crown a champion.
The annual league race was held Sept. 19, and the CCMS Lady Cats and Bobcats both finished fourth in their respective standings.
Fannin County’s Nathalie Sowers set the pace in the girls 2-mile at 14:23.10. Lakelyn Garrett (8th, 15:26.30) was first for the Lady Cats. She was followed by teammates Becca Heaslip (11th, 15:35.80), Karenza Mathis (14th, 16:01.90), Ryn Baldwin (22nd, 16:52.30) and Kayla Overcash (24th, 16:57.50)
Also cracking the top 50 were Anna Kate Heaslip (31st, 17:36.70), Cameron Garza (34th, 18:00.00), Genesis Martinez Farfan (35th, 18:05.20), Madelyn Boyer (36th, 18:05.40), Aria Lee (41st, 18:48.30), Kayleigh Brummel (43rd, 18:59.70), Genesis Welch (45th, 19:04.70), Natalia Gonzalez-Santos (46th, 19:09.50) and Ava West (47th, 19:10).
Reid Murphy of White County won the boys race with plenty of room to spare in 11:32.
Jackson Towns (8th, 13:19.20) was first for the Bobcats, and Cole Jones (10th, 13:30.80), Carson Fowler (17th, 14:14.70), Asher Kleczka (28th, 15:00.30) also scored team points.
Eli Tilton (30th, 15:08.30), Andrew Burgess (50th, 16:07.70), Bentley Stephens (55th, 16:23.80), Keven Ramirez-Reymundo (57th, 16:34.40) and Zane Johnson (68th, 17:53.30) rounded out the Bobcats’ top-10 runners.
White County won the boys league title over Dawson County, 35-76. Lumpkin County (85) was third followed by Clear Creek (93), Pickens (112), Union County (125) and Fannin County (166).
Fannin County (29) was the No. 1 girls team followed by White County (74), Lumpkin County (78), Clear Creek (79), Union County (128), Pickens (156) and Dawson County (158).
