The Clear Creek Bobcats did not have to travel far for its last two wrestling events.
CCMS was at home last Tuesday for a tri-match against the Dawson County Tigers and Lumpkin County Indians.
Dawson was up first, and the Tigers won the match with a pin in the final bout, 47-42. CCMS had another close match versus Lumpkin, but this time the Bobcats came through for a 44-40 victory.
CCMS hosted the annual Bobcat Duals Saturday. Clear Creek posted a 3-1 record and placed third out of eight teams.
Versus Dawson Tuesday, the Tigers won nine bouts and earned bonus points in six of them. All six Clear Creek wins came via pin and were secured by Braelyn Nelson (105), Adolfo Bautista (125), Isaiah Goodwin (145), Madden Hopkins (165), Blake Becker (190) and Cade Garland (225).
Both CCMS and Lumpkin won the same number of bouts, but the Bobcats secured bonus points in every victory. Bobcat winners by pin were Nelson, Nelson Jacinto (115), Dawson Richard (135), Goodwin, Hopkins, Juan Jacinto (175), Becker and Fabian Lopez (205).
Teams were grouped into polls Saturday, and CCMS defeated Jackson County’s B-team (90-0) before a 51-39 loss to Jefferson. The Bobcats then topped Calhoun, 78-18.
Once seeded, Clear Creek crushed Eastbrook (82-12) to secure third place. CCMS undefeated wrestlers on the day included Lopez, Juan Jacinto, Joseph Baughman (155), Goodwin and Nelson Jacinto.
