Seven teams squared off to decide the Middle School Mountain Invitational.
Clear Creek hosted the inaugural track event last Saturday at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium under cold and breezy conditions. Dalton earned dual titles as their boys (66 points) and girls (62.3) led the way. The CCMS Bobcats (33) were runners-up while the Lady Cats (27) finished third.
Dawson Richard scored CCMS team points with three first-place finishes for the second weekend in a row. His times of 11:16.68 in the 3,200 meters and 2:24.61 in the 800-meter run were both the best at the meet. His throw of 120’ 3” easily won the discus, and he clocked in at 5:13.17 for second in the 1,600.
Bobcat Rylen Haley also claimed the top spot in the pole vault with a height of 7’. Lady Cat Lilyan Cook was the No. 1 thrower once again. Her marks of 82’ 2” in the discus and 29’ 11” in the shot put landed her atop the medal stand.
Bobcat Jett Burrell was second in the long jump with a leap of 14’ 8 1/2”. Madden Hopkins’ throw of 31’ 10” in the shot put secured a runner-up placement, while he was third in the discus (97’ 2”) and fourth in the triple jump (29’ 10”).
The Bobcats finished second in the 4x800 relay in 11:05, third in the 4x100 (54.20) and fourth in the 4x400 (4:33.42).
Nelson Jacinto clocked in at 12:11.35 for fourth in the 3,200, and Haley finished in the same position in the shot put (30’ 7”).
Lady Cat Morgan Palmeri scored second-place points in the 1,600 meters with a time of 6:50, as did the Cats’ 4x800 relay team (13:29.37). Third-place finishers included Maddy Patterson (shot put, 68’ 5”), Presley Chancey (triple jump, 25’ 11”) and Madison Balanno (100 hurdles, 19.93).
A trio also placed fourth and included Lady Cats Alyssa Hughes (triple jump, 23’ 11 1/4”), Rose Everett (100 meters, 14.59) and Jude Jones (300 hurdles, 1:04.19).
